Tight Budget For Atlanta Zoo Panda

According to a report from the United Press International, the Atlanta zoo has expressed a desire to keep their panda exhibit open beyond the projected 2009 closing date. The deal-maker in this decision would be based on China’s potential willingness to lower their annual price tag for Lun Lun and Yang Yang.

Currently, the zoo has been paying over $1.1 Million per year for the privilege of hosting these two adult giant pandas.

According to zoo president Dennis Kelly:

“If (Chinese officials) see the benefit of that, I’m sure we could come to a mutually beneficial agreement,” Kelly said.
